In order to produce a color print job consisting of a plurality of pages, it is generally desirable to provide a "straight through" operation in which the printing machine prints every page of the job and the completed job is collected in the form of a continuous roll of paper. In order to insure that printed page information from a previous page does not interfere with the printing of subsequent pages, each page must be assigned a proper order of page. That is, the pages should be printed in the proper sequence such that when the printed paper is rewound into a roll for transport to a customer, it is rewound such that the first page is the first page of the print job, the second page is the second page, etc. In the prior art, orders of page have been accomplished using various means such as employing the print station to print the page number at the beginning of each page, assigning page numbers to each page by hand, and assigning the pages as they are printed to an order table which is manually marked with the page number corresponding to the page to be printed. Although these prior methods are generally satisfactory to insure order, such methods require that the operator be present during the printing of the job, are somewhat cumbersome and are not readily adapted for use in electrophotographic printing machines.

Accordingly, there is a need for a convenient apparatus for automatically marking the proper order of page during the printing of a job in an electrophotographic printing machine.Q:
