The AudioPCI SX was the first available PCI soundcard that was actually based on their mid-range Soundscape card. It is again somewhat similar to the ES1371 - with four playback channels and two channels for the D/A converter. The SX used a proprietary controller and required its own OS driver to operate. This card was available to OEMs for about $25 USD. For retail, it was in the $100 range.
For the AudioPCI series for the time being, five years passed until Ensoniq released AudioPCI 100. The Sound Blaster Professional Sound Card was based on the ES1370, and was the only model that could be set to near-native sampling rates. Having no master volume control (except an optional hardwired input), it was marketed as a professional-level device, which it apparently was.
In the summer of 1998, Ensoniq released the AudioPCI 66. Sixteen years later, the AudioPCI 66 was a model 7 and featured four separate playback channels and two such channels for the D/A converter. True to the tradition of OEM soundcards that were distributed as generic BIOS flashes, they called it AudioPCI 66 Mark II on their web site. It was once again basically a derivative of the ES1371, except it also featured a S5000 based ES1371. Apparently almost unnoticed, the original AudioPCI 66 CD was bundled with later S5000/ES1371-based cards.
